Analytics Club Latest Post - Series Finale by Kelly Wortham
Like most of us, I waste a fair amount of time reading on the internet. Some very small portion of this reading is legitimately useful. Most is just distraction. But among the most pleasant of those distractions is something called the Slate Movie Club. I’m a regular reader of Slate but more for the cultural and arts stuff than the politics, and among the features I like the best are the times when Slate assembles a small group of critics and they sustain a multi-day dialog on a topic. The Movie Club, for example, always meets around December to round-up the films from the year and discuss their likes and dislikes. What I love about the format is the dialog element – the back-and-forth that you can see actually spark new and interesting ideas. It’s kind of like a Huddle at X Change but with a bit more time to prepare what you say!
I’ve wanted to try the format for a while and I’m finally giving it a go. I’ve recruited Kelly Wortham on our team and I’m going to try the idea with a dialog on Testing and Optimization and another, with Jim Hazen, on Personalization. Why two? Well, unlike those lazy journalist dogs, we have work to do during the week. By having two conversations going, I’m hoping we can create enough content to keep the conversation churning even when little stuff like work gets in the way. If it works, I’ll take a go at expanding the idea outside EY. So if you’re interested in being involved and have enough time to write a bit,http://www.typepad.com/site/blogs/6a00d83454a6d169e200d83454a78669e2/post/6a00d83454a6d169e201a511e57529970c/edit drop me a line.
