I was really looking forward to this post, mostly because the importance of collaboration in this context is something that just does not get enough attention. This has always mystified me because analytics really needs to be a collaborative process; if for no reason other than that adding interpretive context from many participants is always better than from just one (even if some moderation is needed.) The comment about under-investment also applies to just about all the software vendors in the BI/Analytics space as well. Although Gary's examples and suggestions are all very helpful, I have trouble accepting that we should have to 'roll our own' collaboration capability or hope the major vendors improve on what have generally been at best half-hearted attempts to build collaborative features into their platforms. I mean something beyond creating endless automated email trails and SharePoint threads.
