I found out last Wednesday while traveling that I was one of five nominees selected for the WAA's Most Influential Industry Contributor Award. I don't want to make either too much or too little of it. On the one hand, awards are always a bit silly, aren't they? The process is never particularly scientific, fair, or any other positive adjective you might attach. So it's hard for someone who lives and breathes measurement and analysis to put too much stock in them. In the greater scheme of things they obviously don't matter very much.
On the other hand, I truly appreciate the fact that people did vote for me. I really do. Especially, as in this case, when the company is so good. So if you were one of those voters...
Thank you. Thank you indeed.
I'm especially grateful to have been rewarded despite my laziness and total lack of effort in the process itself. My bouts of laziness are rarely rewarded. Indeed, the only down-side is that Grace is making me go to the Award dinner; those who know me will realize this must be punishment for a myriad of sins...

Congrats! Well-deserved! :-)
