WebTrends Engage, VisCon, eMetrics and More!
There are times when I’m straining for topics to write about. There are others when I can’t keep up given that I have plenty of other Corporate responsibilities besides blogging. Recently, it’s been the latter that's the problem. I'm looking forward to Fall Back just so I can get the extra hour! I have blogs on X Change Learnings, the San Diego Analytics Conference, WebTrend's Scoring Capabilities and more that I've "planned" on writing.
But before it is past, I wanted to mention that I’m on a panel with some great people at the WebTrends Engage Conference in Vegas this Tuesday. The panel is on “Consumer Engagement” – so at least my recent postings have me somewhat prepared – and the panelists include Andy Beal, Anil Batra, Manoj Jasra, Jim Novo and Jim Sterne. Having the name “Angel” really worked well for me – I was listed first in this group – thank you alphabetical order! Seriously, that’s a darn good panel and I’m looking forward to it though I honestly have no idea what the discussion is going to focus on.
If you’re out at the WebTrends Conference – stop by and say hello and check out the discussion. This venue and Conference sure look like a lot of fun!
Later this week, I’m teaching a couple of classes at Viscon Active Insights. This is always one of my favorite things to do. These classes are a great opportunity to delve deeply into a subject in a relaxed and very informational setting. It’s perfect for me and I really enjoy doing them. I’m going to be teaching a class on Functionalism (which I’ve done numerous times before) and I’ll either be reprising my Visitor Segmentation Class or perhaps doing a course on Common Problems in Web Measurement (I may substitute this one). If you are going to VisCon and haven’t taken my classes before, give them a try. If you can stand to read my blog, I can practically guarantee that you’ll actually enjoy my classes!
The following week, I’m going to be out at eMetrics for a couple of days before swinging up to New York on real business. Be sure to check out June’s presentation at eMetrics and also Risa Dimacali from Schwab on Monday morning. I’ve worked with Risa and she’s great – should be a very fun presentation and I'm looking forward to it!
Finally, I wanted to give a brief heads-up to an amusing and thought-provoking post that Paul just wrote. After a day in academe, Paul asks the question “Is there a theory of web analytics?” It’s a surprisingly interesting topic and Paul’s treatment is light-hearted but definitely got me thinking. It certainly seems like there should be a theory of web analytics. But if there is one, I don’t know it. I may take up this topic if I can think of anything to actually say about it (add this to the list of "planned" posts)!
