A short (relatively!) post today. First, if you’re following the comScore debate, definitely check out the comment posted below by Dr. Magid Abraham (comScore's President) to my last blog on the topic. It’s an excellent comment, very well thought out and I think helpful.
I’m still mulling the whole issue over in my mind – and playing with some ways to assess some of our client sites more carefully. It’s not an issue I’d really like to be talking about (I’d much rather still be posting on Analyzing Internal Search) but if you’re serious about analysis you ignore data quality issues at your peril.
On a brighter note, there are several great events coming up. First, eMetrics, surely the web analytic event of the year is upon us. I’m going to be doing a short presentation on Functionalism (at a high-level) there and will also be both at the conference in general and, of course, the Semphonic booth. Booth conversations can be frustrating – so we’re doing something different at eMetrics as well as the standard booth. If you have an interest in web analytics consulting and would like to schedule time with me personally to talk about Semphonic and analytics, you can do it around eMetrics. Drop me a comment on the blog (or just email me at gangel@semphonic.com) with a time-slot you’d like during the Conference. I’ll reserve it for you and you can be sure of talking directly (and uninterruptedly) with me! Wow… Seriously, it’s a very convenient way to have an introduction to Semphonic and just meet and talk. If you read this blog, you probably already know we are about the least salesy organization in existence! eMetrics is in my personal back-yard this time (San Francisco) so feel free to stop by and get restaurant recommendations as well!
Not too long after that, I’m going to reprise two classes at WebSideStory’s User Forum DMU. I’m teaching two-hour classes on Functionalism and Advanced Visitor Segmentation using Visual Site. If you’ve done these classes before, DON’T sign up. They will be pretty much the same. But if you haven’t, and you are planning to attend I’ll hope you’ll give either or both a try. The Functionalism class is one I’ve done repeatedly and I think it’s very worthwhile for almost anyone doing or around web analytics. It also gets really good class ratings every time I do it - so it's not just me who thinks it's pretty useful! The Visitor Segmentation Class is most appropriate if you are thinking about Visual Site as a possible next step in your analytics. As with eMetrics, we’re scheduling private meetings around the conference, so feel free to drop me a line and reserve a time (not during my Monday Afternoon Classes!).
